My six year old daughter wanted a special book bag for 1st grade. She wanted a book bag because she associates book bags - as opposed to backpacks – with being a big girl. When the package arrived, she was so excited and wore it over her shoulder the rest of the day. She tried out all of the compartments, carrying her work with her everywhere she went. She told stories about the cowgirls illustrated on the bag. And on the first day of school, she carried it proudly.
